EVE may have been up and down all day, but I've been getting a lot of mileage out of the forums since I'm at work.
Patch day is usually the most entertaining day. ;)
Seriously, though- keep up your efforts, the vast majority of users aren't going to whine like spoiled children. Unfortunately, the vast majority of FORUM users will. ;)
Good luck and here's hoping the next corrections take care of the problems!

Certain elements of the forum system depend on the database being available. So if the DB totally tanks (there are levels of failure that might result in the servers "crashing" but the DB servers remaining accessible to the forums), then the forums go with it. THey're probably rolling a bunch of hardware around and doing their thing, which is going to have an impact on the forum system.

Ladies and gents, to amuse you during the downtime, I present:
EVE Crash Bingo!
Simply download the PDF above, print it out, pick one card, and follow the thread. You're not allowed to post the stuff on the card yourself to be able to cover a square, but anytime someone else (not playing) does, you get that square.
Who's gonna get the first BINGO?
Suggestions for more terms/words welcome, I'll maybe make more cards.
